Center for Health Care Services (CHCS)

The Center for Health Care Services (CHCS) is the community mental health center for Bexar county. Its mission is to improve the lives of people with mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse challenges. CHCS has programs for children and adults and persons with intellectual disabilities. CHCS also provides crisis management and substance abuse treatment programs. Faculty of the UT Health Science Center's department of psychiatry and general psychiatry residents provide services in one of the Center's outpatient programs. The Center has also collaborated with the department's division of schizophrenia and related disorders in numerous projects seeking to improve the care of the chronically mentally ill.
