IMAGING CORE DIRECTOR
The Department of Psychiatry at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio seeks a Director of the Psychiatry Brain Imaging Core. The position is a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level supported in part through a named endowed professorship. The successful applicant will be a board-certified or board-eligible academic psychiatrist or psychologist with a track record of independent research funding in the area of fMRI brain imaging of psychiatric disorders. The position will include time and effort split between the Department of Psychiatry and the Health Science Center Research Imaging Center, led by Peter Fox, MD. Psychiatry currently has over 15 million dollars per year in extramural research funding with most projects involving brain imaging and/or genetics. Areas of greatest research strength include translational research on etiology and treatment of mood disorders, substance use disorders, childhood disorders, geriatrics and executive function, schizophrenia, and genetics. Additionally, the department has strong educational and clinical programs in an attractive, culturally rich city situated on the edge of the Texas Hill Country, with a pleasant climate, an excellent public school system and abundant recreational activities.
