Overview
This study is for healthy control subjects only. It studies brain pathways using Ïpharmacological fMRI. The compensation for this study is up to $150, $50 per fMRI visit. This study involves 4 total visits. If the subject meets the inclusion criteria, then a screening visit is scheduled. At this screening visit, approximately 3 hours long, a structured clinical interview is performed to confirm there is no psychiatric diagnosis, a physical exam is done by a medical doctor and blood and urine tests are performed to rule out medical problems, drug use, and pregnancy, if applicable. If the subject continues to qualify, we will schedule 3 appointments, one every other day, to administer the fMRI. Prior to the fMRI, the subject will be randomly assigned a study medication, either placebo, lorazepam, or baclofen. The subject takes the medication immediately prior to the fMRI. Each subject will receive all 3 study medications, one study medication per day, on the 3 consecutive visits of fMRI sessions. At each fMRI visit, there are 3 blood draws. The subject must have someone available to take him/her home after the fMRI, as the study medications can cause drowsiness. Study participation ends after the third fMRI.
