Summary or Description of Project:
This research study is aimed at determining if antipsychotic medications increase the risk for developing weight gain, increased glucose, increased triglycerides, high blood pressure, or abnormal cholesterol in patients with symptoms of Schizophrenia. This study will consist of four visits, a mini-physical, routine blood tests and detailed interviews and journals. This study is being conducted in the Rio Grande Valley area.
Research Subjects Needed:
If you have been diagnosed with Schizophrenia and are taking antipsychotic medication, are of Hispanic origin and between the ages of 18 and 70, you may be eligible to participate in this study. If you qualify, you may be compensated up to $110.00 for your participation.
