Donald Royall, MD

Biography: Dr. Roache graduated from Purdue University in 1983. He has been a member of UTHSCSA Department of Psychiatry since 1998 and is a tenured Professor, Interim Chief of the Division of Alcohol and Drug Addiction, and Director of the Behavioral Wellness Center for Clinical Trials. His research interests revolve around a biobehavioral understanding of addiction and its treatment with particular interest in developing medications for treatment and understanding the biological/genetic basis for individual differences in treatment response. Dr. Roache is currently focusing on treatments for opiate, alcohol, cocaine, and methamphetamine dependence understanding the role of the genetic polymorphisms of the serotonin transporter in drug response. His is funded by NIH grants from NIDA and NIAAA and pharmaceutical company contracts.

Biography: Dr. Wouter Koek obtained his Ph.D. in behavioral pharmacology at the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands, in 1984. He has been a member of the UTHSCSA Department of Psychiatry faculty since 2002. His research interests are animal models aimed at aiding the development of medications for substance abuse. Dr. Koek is currently studying club drugs, such as gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) and ketamine. His research is funded by NIDA.

Biography: Dr. Lamb graduated from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1983. He has been a member of the UTHSCSA Department of Psychiatry faculty since 1999. His research interests are in behavioral pharmacology related to addiction and alcoholism, and the use of contingency management techniques to treat addiction. Dr. Lamb is currently studying the behavioral biology of ethanol self-administration in laboratory animals, and the use of contingency management treatments to facilitate smoking cessation. His research is funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.
