Tyler J. Burnett is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor. He has been with the Department of Psychiatry since 1994 and has served in several roles. Throughout his time with the Department he has maintained a general psychotherapy practice. Additionally he has taught medical students in the Physical Diagnosis Course and supervised Psychiatry residents with assigned psychotherapy cases. He has contributed to several studies for Bipolar Disorder as an evaluator, therapist and interviewer. He has served on several committees both within the Department and the School of Medicine. Supervision of the faculty practice intake office is another current responsibility.
Outside of the Department Mr. Burnett has served a one year administrative apprenticeship in the Medical Deans Office as a Special Projects Manager. While in the Deans Office he helped develop the Medical School Leadership & Administration Program, which he also attended. He has managed the Employee Assistance Program both as the clinician and administrator for UT Medicine and the UTHSCSA. In 2010 he was named the Chief of Departmental Relations for the Department of Psychiatry.
