Elisa Vinson Borah, MSW, PhD, Assistant Professor, is the Director of Research at Ft. Hood for the STRONG STAR Multidisciplinary PTSD Research Consortium. She earned a PhD in social work at the University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work, and was awarded a Master of Social Work degree at George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University. Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, Dr. Borah spent three years working at the Urban Institute in Washington, D.C. designing federally-funded performance measurement systems for local educational and non-profit service providers. Dr. Borah also spent three years at the University of Hawaii, School of Social Work as a Research Associate and research methods course instructor. Dr. Borahs research focus is on improving clinical outcomes through effective implementation of evidence-based practices. She is particularly interested in identifying methods for creating supportive service delivery environments for providers to apply skills they have learned during training. Dr. Borah has research experience in the areas of outcome measurement, effective online dissemination of practitioner-relevant research information, and evidence-based practice implementation within substance abuse treatment.
