Edward C. Wright, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist at Ft. Hood for the STRONG STAR Multidisciplinary PTSD Research Consortium. He completed a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at George Mason University. He completed a 2-year postdoctoral training fellowship with STRONG STAR along with a previous postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas at San Antonio Counseling Center. He completed his predoctoral internship at the Georgia Institute of Technology Counseling Center. He has conducted research in the areas of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and computer-mediated communication. He currently specializes in Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) for combat-related PTSD, has extensive training, and is nationally recognized as a certified PE therapist through the University of Pennsylvania Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety. His primary responsibility is providing PE in the nations largest study on the use of PE for combat-related PTSD in active duty Soldiers, at Fort Hood, TX, as part of STRONG STAR (Principle Investigator: Edna Foa, Ph.D.). His other duties include providing cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia (in which he has also been certified), providing independent evaluations for STRONG STAR studies, and furthering the development and publication of new STRONG STAR research projects.

PTSD assessment with PTSD Symptom Scale Interview -
Certified in the PTSD Symptom Scale Interview (PSS-I) by STRONG STAR Assessment Core (Brett Litz, Ph.D. at National Center for PTSD and Elizabeth Hembree, Ph.D. at University of Pennsylvania). Completed an intensive certification program, training course(8 hours), 3 qualifying interview cases, 2 mock interviews, and a supervised case (15 hours). |

Certified in Present Centered Therapy by Edna Foa, Ph.D. and the clinical team at the Center for Treatment and Study of Anxiety, University of Pennsylvania. Completed an intensive certification program consisting of: training course (8 hours), intensive supervision (20 hours), and two supervised cases. |
Prolonged Exposure Therapy -
Certified in Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy for 1) treatment delivered in weekly sessions (10 sessions in 8 weeks) and 2) treatment delivered in daily ("massed") sessions (10 sessions in 10 days) by the Center for Treatment and Study of Anxiety, University of Pennsylvania (May, 2010). Completed intensive training including two four-day PE workshops, a PE supervisor/"master clinician" workshop, and supervision of four cases with all sessions videotaped and reviewed. Three years of experience providing PE for combat-related PTSD. Recognized by experts in the field as one of most experienced PE therapists working within the Department of Defense. Since certification, provided PE workshops and seminars to other licensed professionals, post-docs, and residents. |
