Pruiksma, Kristi M. E.

Kristi E. Pruiksma, PhD., is an Assistant Professor and Licensed Clinical Psychologist within the Division of Behavioral Medicine and the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She is an investigator and cognitive-behavioral research therapist for the STRONG STAR Research Consortium which is housed within the Department of Psychiatry. STRONG STAR is the largest center for clinical trials in the Department of Defense (DoD) targeting PTSD and related conditions. Dr. Pruiksma work primarily at the Fort Hood site of the consortium. Her research and clinical interests are in the areas of PTSD and behavioral sleep medicine with a focus on insomnia and trauma-related nightmares in active duty military personnel. Dr. Pruiksma has had extensive training and is nationally certified in individual and group Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), and in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for nightmares. She is also a certified Cognitive Processing Therapy Consultant.
