    Faculty
    The Division has 14 teaching psychiatrists, plus clinical faculty. Additionally, there are 4 clinical psychologists (Ph.D.) on the faculty at the Child Guidance Center and Southwest Mental Health Center as well as a full staff of psychiatric social workers.

    Application Information
    Application Process

    UTHSCSA Department of Psychiatry

    All applicants to the General Psychiatry residency program at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio should submit the following materials through ERAS (the Electronic Residency Application Service) no later than December 1, for entry the following July 1:

    • Application
    • Personal statement
    • Dean’s letter
    • Medical school transcript
    • USMLE scores, Parts I and II
    • 3 letters of recommendation

    After all the above documents have been received through ERAS, applicants who are judged to be competitive will be invited for interviewing. Interviews generally are scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from late October through January. Each applicant will meet with three or more faculty members and with several residents.

    International medical graduates must apply through the ECFMG. We accept the USMLE minimum scores required by the ECFMG for certification. We sponsor ONLY J-1 visas.

    Applicants must be eligible for institutional licensure in the State of Texas.

    New residents of the Health Science Center must not have any current federal sanctions in place.
