    Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Upon completion of the third postgraduate year, residents will have developed the skills necessary to evaluate psychiatric aspects of medical care, drug interaction problems, and interpersonal issues. Additionally, they will have the skills to provide both short- and long-term psychotherapy to patients with medical and surgical problems. Proficiency is developed in the diagnosis and treatment of children, adolescents, and their families.

The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry offers a fully accredited two-year Child Psychiatry Residency Education Program.

Cognizant of the fact that children's problems do not develop in a vacuum, the department has created a program with a strong family and community orientation. The program provides training in child and adolescent development, psychopathology, and a broad range of therapies – the full complement of experiences necessary for the resident to assume a role in private practice, community mental health, and/or academic medicine.

    Primary Training Sites
The Division's faculty operates five training sites.
